Back in the early 70s, the street drugs were softer, prescription drugs were over produced and sold on the black market, and there weren't that many overdoses, he noted. But in 1974, after Nixon declared the War on Drugs, methamphetamine sold by groups such as the Hells Angels emerged, and things just snowballed from there, he said. The War on Drugs costs $100 billion a year to conduct but the "problem is just getting worse," he commented, adding that he thinks it's one of the biggest failures the US government has ever embarked on. Law enforcement ! and the penal system are structured around drug enforcement (with a large percentage of cases involving marijuana related crimes), so they have a vested financial interest in keeping this system going-- even though some prominent former law enforcement officials support legalization like Joseph McNamara, who is involved in Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP), Sumner detailed. March 15, 2012 concert at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Roanoke, Va., performed as a benefit for the Central and Western Virginia chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Chris Magee is assistant professor of music at Northeast Lakeview College in Universal City, Texas. He comes to San Antonio from Virginia, where he was instructor of trumpet at Radford University and director of the jazz ensemble at Washington and Lee University in Lexington. In addition to his career in teaching, Dr. Magee has enjoyed a successful career as a professional trumpeter. He was principal trumpet with the University-Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra in Lexington and was featured soloist with the orchestra in 2004 and 2009. He was first trumpet and resident arranger with Brass 5, a Yamaha Artist Group in Roanoke. He can be heard on the CD "In My Own Sweet Time" with the jazz group Pandemusicum (pandemusicum.bandcamp.com). Chris was staff trumpeter and arranger at Wa! lt Disney World in Orlando, Florida from 1984 to 1987, and he has played lead trumpet for artists including The Four Tops, The Temptations, The O'Jays and Wayne Newton. He received bachelor and master of music degrees from James Madison University and the doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Iowa, and studied with James Kluesner, Don Jacoby and David Greenhoe.

Host seed Baker University (21-11) will look to make history on Wednesday evening as the Wildcats face seventh-seeded Our Lady of the Lake (26-7) at 6:15 pm, from historic Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo., in the opening round of the Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship. Baker one of the original eight teams that participated in the very fist NAIA National Tournament in 1937 will be joined by Our Lady of the Lake for their first-ever national tournament appearance. Legendary Baker coach Emil S. Liston and legendary University of Kansas coach Dr. James Naismith were among the original founders of the inaugural tournament in 1937.
